When our representatives are making important
decisions that impact all of our lives I believe it is important to ask
one basic question before making
those decisions, Is this good for
the children? Just imagine what our world would be
like if that question was asked prior to making decisions about going to
war, the environment, education or healthcare.

1. Commentary by
Ken Norton: Hello
everybody and welcome to Women’s
Spaces. My name is Ken Norton,
and I am your host. I am filling
in for the regular host and my
loving partner Elaine B. Holtz.
Good Morning!
Joining me on the phone today is
Rev. Dr. Patricia Keel. The
theme of this show will be
healing. Our regular host,
Elaine, fell and fractured her
tibia bone beneath her right
knee on January 1. So we have
been on a spiritual journey of
healing since then, doing our
best to keep our attitude
positive. We will get more into
that during our interview with
Rev. Keel.
I have some announcements. Joe
Wang, beloved husband of Nancy
Wang, passed away last week. Joe
and Nancy are the pillars of the
Redwood Empire Chinese
Association, and Nancy is the
current President. Our
condolences to Nancy and her
family.
Ernesto Sanchez, beloved brother
of Alicia Sanchez, the President
of Radio KBBF, passed away last
week. Condolences to Alicia and
her family on Ernesto Sanchez’s
passing.
John Turngren, beloved brother
of Mary Norman, passed away on
Friday. Condolences to Mary and
her family.
This is Martin Luther King’s
Birthday. There were
celebrations in Sonoma and Napa
counties yesterday. Today there
are community service events
planned.
Good news. President Joe Biden
has officially stated that the
Equal Rights Amendment has
fulfilled all requirements to be
included in the Constitution.
The news is mixed, since he did
not order the National Archivist
to officially include the ERA in
the Constitution.
2.
Our
Guest, Rev. Dr. Patricia Keel,
in conversation with our host
Ken Norton explores spiritual
practices for healing, stress
management, and
self-transformation, bridging
Unity teachings and Indian
traditions. Ken recalls a
stressful January 2021 week that
included an insurrection at our
nation's capitol and Reverend
Patricia Keel’s guidance on
transformation in the January 4,
2021 Women's Spaces Show. Rev.
Patricia shares her journey into
Unity Ministry, inspired by
personal struggles with
addiction and the peace she
found in Unity, particularly
Myrtle Fillmore’s faith-based
self-healing from tuberculosis,
foundational to Unity
principles.
Indian practices like pranayama
(breath control) are explored,
emphasizing their role in
activating subtle energies such
as prana (vitality), ojas
(immunity), and tejas (tissue
intelligence). Patricia connects
these with Unity teachings on
the mind-body-spirit
relationship. Practical tools
like conscious breathing and the
prayerful “namaskar” position
are highlighted for calming and
balancing effects, with Ken
sharing how these methods helped
him overcome anxiety.
Rev. Patricia emphasizes the
importance of being present and
accepting, referencing the song
Let It Be. Ken underscores
mindfulness, particularly for
older individuals, sharing a
story about his 98-year-old
mother’s fall and the importance
of awareness and adaptation.
Healing is central to the
discussion, with Rev. Patricia
reflecting on supporting loved
ones through health challenges
and her own recovery from a car
accident. She highlights
focusing on the divine vitality
within oneself and others to
avoid amplifying distress.
Ken recounts Elaine’s spiritual
journey after her fall, noting
synchronicities, like
caregivers’ names beginning with
“J,” reinforcing the Journey
with universal connection. He
reflects on spiritual journeys
as aligning with one’s true
self, beyond societal
expectations. Falls are viewed
as metaphors for challenges that
strengthen us, with Ken
referencing the 23rd Psalm to
illustrate life’s varied
experiences and the constant
presence of a guiding force. The
conversation concludes with an
understanding of life’s
challenges as essential to
spiritual growth and connection.
About our Guest:
Rev. Dr. Patricia Keel
has a doctorate from the
Reinvention of Work from Matthew
Fox at Wisdom University.
Patricia has journeyed to India
many times to study, and she is
an Advanced Oneness Trainer.
Patricia is a spiritual coach
for midlife women and currently
serves as minister of Unity of
Santa Rosa.
