When our representatives are making important
decisions that impact all of our lives I believe it is important to ask
one basic question before making
those decisions, Is this good for
the children? Just imagine what our world would be
like if that question was asked prior to making decisions about going to
war, the environment, education or healthcare.

2. Kolieka Seigle,
President, National Organization for Women (NOW) California State;
Executive Director, California NOW Foundation; Chair, California NOW
Political Action Committee
1. Sabra Briere
shares the history and mission of Indivisible, the national movement
formed in 2016 after the election to oppose the Trump agenda, and
how the Sonoma County Chapter is implementing this in the county.
Indivisible Sonoma members are presently calling individuals in those states
with Republican Senators to contact their Senator on Removing the
Impeached President when it comes to a Senate trial.
Indivisible Sonoma and Move-On have called for the Impeach and
Remove Rally on Tuesday 12/17/19 at 5:30 PM at Santa Rosa's Old
Courthouse Square, as one of many called for around the nation.
About our Guest: Sabra Briere served as a
City Council Member of Ann Arbor, MI. In January 2017 Sabra and her
husband moved to Santa Rosa to be closer to their son's growing
family. She immediately became involved in our community by becoming
a member of Indivisible Sonoma County at their first general meeting
in January 2017, and has become an active member of the local
Democratic Party, and volunteers for the City of Santa Rosa. Sabra
became leader of Indivisible Sonoma County last fall, following the
resignaton of the founder, Karen D’Or. Sabra spoke at the Women’s
Rally at the Old Courthouse Square in Santa Rosa on January 20,
2018.
Passionate about free speech, education, the environment, and civic
responsibilities, Sabra brings her energy and her insights to our
local issues.
2.Kolieka
Seigle shares her path to leading the California National
Organization for Women (NOW) and her quest as a woman of color and
of the Millenial generation to
make NOW more inclusive. She shares the exciting developments
as recent elections in the final 3 states of Nevada, Illinois and
Virginia changed the political atmosphere for these states to line
up for the needed 3/4 of states or 38 states to ratify in the state
legislature the Federal Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Kolieka talks of her mentor Prof.
Kimberlé Crenshaw, a leading scholar in the field of critical race
theory, who coined the term Intersectionality.
According to Dr. Crenshaw Intersectionality is a lens through which
you can see where power interlocks and intersects to deprive people
of rights for some reason like race or gender preference.
Kolieka is using this tool of Intersectionality to transform NOW for
modern women's needs.
About our Guest:
Kolieka Seigle is intersectional feminist committed to
political action, advocacy, and civic engagement, she has spent the
bulk of her career seeking to promote democratic participation in
underrepresented minorities and improve conditions in communities of
color. She currently serves as the President of the California
National Organization for Women and Executive Director of the
California NOW Foundation. She also chairs the CA NOW Political
Action Committee. Bringing to the CA NOW Board over a decade of
experience and leadership in Sacramento and the Bay area in
political consulting, pro choice visibility actions, and campaign
management at the local, city and state level. Kolieka is a former
Commissioner for the City of Berkeley - Commission on the Status of
Women; Berkeley National Organization for Women, Vice President and
other Non Profit Boards and Domestic Violence Coalitions. Through
education and direct action, Kolieka seeks to reduce violence,
reward women’s economic contributions, and develop and elect more
women to office. She remains committed to ensuring women take their
rightful place as equals and continues the fight to institutionalize
gender equity and empower women and girls.
