Before Deciding

When our representatives are making important decisions that impact all of our lives I believe it is important to ask one basic question before making
those decisions,
Is this good for
the children?

Just imagine what our world would be like if that question was asked prior to making decisions about going to war, the environment, education or healthcare.

1. Commentary by our host Elaine B. Holtz:   I have two special guests today, joining me on the phone will be Millie Munson. Millie along with her brother Milo are creating a Skateboard Park Project in Monti Rio CA. I feel as an elder it is important; we support these young people when they engage in something like this. As future activists I hope it is a real learning experience doing something like this which Millie will be talking to you about.
Also joining me on the phone will be and I am so excited to present her, Diana Billy-Elliot who is the Deputy Director for the Intertribal Council of California.an Association Designed for the Unity of all American Indians. We will be talking about Joe Biden and his announcement that today October 11, 2021, shall be called “Indigenous People’s Day.” This is a step in the right direction honoring America is first inhabitants. This recognition in my mind is long overdue. We are a diverse nation.
Condolences to the family of a dear friend of mine Rebecca “Zoe” Dustman. Zoe died suddenly and I will miss her terribly. She was a one in a million human being and quite a character. I must admit, one that was incredibly loveable,
Wow, we had a baby shower for my granddaughter, who will be having my second great granddaughter Kaya Sierra, who will be born, if all is well, on November 2. Never thought I would make it that far. Life goes on. One generation after another. Our children are the future, and we must never lose sight of that.

Herstory

Our history is our strength. Check out important dates to remember in herstory at the National Women's History Alliance

National Women's History Alliance

Herstory Events:

Herstory Birthdays:

October 11, 1884 (1962) – Eleanor Roosevelt, civil rights advocate, feminist, author, world diplomat, former First Lady (1933-45) Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was an American political figure, diplomat and activist. She served as the first lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945, during her husband President Franklin D. Roosevelt's four terms in office, making her the longest-serving first lady of the United States. She spearheaded the writing of the Human Rights Doctrine for the United Nations.
