When our representatives are making important
decisions that impact all of our lives I believe it is important to ask
one basic question before making
those decisions, Is this good for
the children? Just imagine what our world would be
like if that question was asked prior to making decisions about going to
war, the environment, education or healthcare.

Joining me on the phone from her
office in Los Angeles is Women’s
Rights attorney, Gloria Allred,
and we will be talking about her
career and importance of Women’s
Rights and the contribution she
has made. Today we will be
talking about the reversal of
Roe vs Wade, which gave women
the constitutional right to make
choices over their own bodies, a
fundamental freedom.
In a guest column for Variety
she wrote on June 29, 2022,
A Womb with a view, Gloria
Allred writes, “From the bottom
of my heart and my womb, I urge
you to join me in fighting for
justice for women. I am no
longer a good girl; I am now a
fearless womb warrior.” The

2. Our guestGloria Allred
shares an intimate story of her
past, that she also published in
Variety, of being raped in 1960,
discovering she was pregnant,
and after a back street abortion
was performed by a man who was
not medically trained, she
almost bled to death. No other
options were available at the
time. It would be the spark that
fueled her passion to help Women
defend their rights, including
representing Jane Roe before the
U.S. Supreme Court in the case
Roe v. Wade in
1973. When asked Gloria said she
doubted whether it would have
made any difference if, as
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
opined, "it would have been
better to approach it under the
equal protection clause." Our
host Elaine then questioned if
the three Justices appointed by
President Trump could be
impeached for lying during the
confirmation hearing on their
support for Roe v Wade as
precedent, and again Gloria did
not think this would be a
fruitful route for women's
rights. Gloria said the reversal
would make it more difficult for
women to take advantage of
business opportunities and jobs,
affect them financially and in
every aspect of life. She warns that the right
to birth control and LGBTQ+
rights are next according to
Justice Clarence Thomas. After
this reversal by the Supreme
Court, Gloria encourages women
to, of course, protest that they
legally have become 2nd class
citizens again, as well as plan
for ways to help women seek
abortions in the free states, but more
importantly run for office, and
for all of us to vote for those
candidates pledging support of
Women's Rights.
