When our representatives are making important
decisions that impact all of our lives I believe it is important to ask
one basic question before making
those decisions, Is this good for
the children? Just imagine what our world would be
like if that question was asked prior to making decisions about going to
war, the environment, education or healthcare.

1. Commentary by Elaine B. Holtzon the SCOTUS decision to
overturn Roe V. Wade after
nearly 50 years as precedent
for Women's Choice over her own
body. She also talks a bit about
the history of July 4th and
reads what Abigail Adams wrote
to her husband John Adams.
----
2. Our guestDr. Harriet Fraad
joins our host Elaine B.Holtz in
discussing the ramifications of
the recent SCOTUS decisions,
especially their overturning Roe
v. Wade with their majority
conservative opinion. They took
away Women's Rights, asserted
state-control over people's
bodies, and took away any
protections if it deals with
profit. Guns, even military
style guns, can be carried
anywhere. Rather than policies
in place protecting rights
people are left to their
prayers. The SCOTUS majority are
"originalists" despite history
changing our country. The 14th
Amendment's Due Process Clause
with the right to privacy as
applied in Roe v Wade was
discounted. Sex abuse does not
stop. Currently a 12-year-old
girl that was raped was ordered
to carry the fetus to term,
which affects her whole family.
Women are in jeopardy in those
states with such oppressive
anti-abortion laws. 60% of women
have less than $400 in savings,
making interstate travel
prohibitive to another state
that does provide legal and safe
abortions. SCOTUS with its
recent decisions has curtailed
the right to make decisions over
one's body if you are a woman,
the right to breathe with
curtailing EPA's mandate, the
right to life and peaceful
assembly with the proliferation
of guns, and the right to be
free of Covid infection in the
workplace.
About our Guest: Dr. Harriet
Fraad is a founding
mother
of the Women’s Liberation
Movement in New Haven CT and has
been an activist for her entire
life. She is a mental health
counselor and hypnotherapist in
practice in New York City. Along
with being a founding member of
the feminist movement and the
journal Rethinking Marxism, for
40 years, she has been a radical
committed to transforming US
personal and political life.
Harriet specializes in speaking
and writing about topics in
which psychology and economics
overlap, as these topics remain
loaded with taboos, confusions,
ignorance, and fear preventing
us from asking big questions and
daring to discuss big answers.
By analyzing issues where
psychology and economics
collide, we can better analyze
our society and our
individuality as well. Books:

July 4, 1876 – Suffragists crash
the Centennial Celebration in
Independence Hall to present the
Vice President with the
“Declaration of the Rights of
Women” written by Matilda
Joselyn Gage.
Philadelphia’s July Fourth, 1876
celebration kicked off the
nation’s one-hundredth birthday
celebration to large,
enthusiastic crowds. Among those
in the city for the festivities
was the National Woman’s
Suffrage Association (NWSA), an
organization founded in 1869 to
advocate for a constitutional
amendment insuring women’s right
to vote. The NWSA planned to
participate in the Centennial
event by presenting their
“Declaration of Rights of the
Women of the United States” to
the nation.
Declaration of Rights of the
Women of the United States -
July 4, 1876. This declaration
was written by Susan B. Anthony,
Matilda Joslyn Gage and
Elizabeth Cady Stanton on behalf
of the National Woman Suffrage
Association (NWSA).
Despite hostility and ridicule,
the Women’s Declaration said,
“We, therefore, women of the
United States of America, do
solemnly publish and declare
that we are by nature, and of
right, ought to be by law, free
and independent citizens,
possessing equal political power
with our brother men.
