When our representatives are making important
decisions that impact all of our lives I believe it is important to ask
one basic question before making
those decisions, Is this good for
the children? Just imagine what our world would be
like if that question was asked prior to making decisions about going to
war, the environment, education or healthcare.

Joining me on the phone will be
Susan Lamont, a long-time peace
activist. She will share
information on a special showing
of the film Where Olive Trees
Weep - No One Is Free Until All
Are Free. This film documents
Dr. Gabor Maté's trauma-healing
work with a group of women
tortured in Israeli prisons
during his 2022 trip to the West
Bank. The violence did not begin
in Gaza nor on October 7th,
2023. Understanding these events
and their motivations is
crucial.
I am truly honored to talk with
my next guest, Diana Carpenter
Madoshi. She organizes Women's
History Month programs to
educate the community about
women's achievements. As an
advocate and activist, Diana
serves on nonprofit boards like
the League of Women Voters in
her county. A loving mother and
grandmother, she encourages her
family to "plant seeds" for
future generations.
It's been an eventful week. Ken
visited his family and attended
the wedding of his nephew Aaron
to Amanda; we wish them a joyous
marriage.
Kamala Harris is now the
presumptive candidate for
President of the United States.
Kudos to President Joe Biden for
prioritizing the country and
stepping down for this historic
nomination. While I can't
support a candidate, I believe
it's time for a woman to lead
our country. Harris, though not
perfect, has significant skills.
Women should rally to support
her and hold her accountable.
Her courage in running during
this volatile time, especially
for women, is admirable. As
Harris said, "We will not go
back."
Condolences to the family of
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee
(1950–2024), who served Texas's
18th congressional district from
1995 until her death. A fearless
advocate against racism and
injustice, she was a remarkable
and beautiful woman inside and
out, one of the leaders we've
been waiting for.

This film documents a trip to
the West Bank in 2022, when Dr.
Gabor Maté did trauma-healing
work with a group of women who
were tortured in Israeli
prisons. The violence did not
begin in Gaza nor on October

About our Guest: Susan
Lamont is a longtime
peace and social justice
activist, who is currently
affiliated with Sonoma County's
Green Party, Police Brutality
Coalition and Veterans for
Peace. She is also a writer,
poet and photographer. I have to
say she is an amazing writer and
photographer. Susan is a regular
guest and was my first guest on
my television show in 2004. She
was involved in helping to
create the Independent Office of
Law Enforcement and Outreach
(LOLERO), worked diligently to
get it on the ballot and it
passed with over 60% of the vote
and it continues to be a work in
progress. In 2017 Susan Lamont
had the honor of being placed on
the Sebastopol, CA, Living Peace
Wall.
3. Our
guest, Diana Carpenter Madoshi,
shares her extensive background
in nursing and activism,
highlighting her dedication to
women’s issues and voting
rights. Diana, a retired nurse
with over 30 years of
experience, has been a
passionate volunteer and event
coordinator for various
nonprofits focusing on women’s
rights. She is notably inspired
by her mentor, women's rights
activist Carol Norberg, with
whom she co-chaired Women’s
Equality Day parades.
Diana recounts how her
involvement in activism
intensified after being
diagnosed with an autoimmune
disease, emphasizing that her
mentors helped her realize she
was not defined by her
diagnosis. She stresses the
importance of not letting one’s
voice be muted, a guiding
principle in her life.
The interview delves into
Diana’s role in organizing
events to promote voting rights.
In 2020, she and her colleagues
initiated a Silent Sentinel
event inspired by the 1917
women’s suffragists who picketed
the White House. This
nonpartisan event involved
participants silently holding
signs that said "vote" to
encourage voter participation.
Diana shares her personal
connection to this cause,
highlighting the historical
struggles and triumphs of Black
women in the fight for voting
rights.
Diana speaks passionately about
the upcoming October 5th event
of Silent Sentinels, aimed at
increasing voter turnout. She
urges people to participate in
their communities, emphasizing
the critical importance of the
upcoming election for the future
of democracy. Diana’s email and
contact information for further
participation are provided,
encouraging listeners to get
involved.
About our Guest: Diana
Carpenter Madoshi
earned a Bachelor of Science in
Nursing from Sacramento State
University and retired after
more than 30 years in the field.
For over 20 years, she has
volunteered as an event
coordinator for nonprofits
focusing on women's issues.
Passionate about women's
suffrage history, she is
inspired by undervalued
community leaders and her
mentor, women's rights activist
Carol Norberg. Together, they
co-chaired Women’s Equality Day
parades to honor the sacrifices
made for women's voting rights.
Known as a "go-to person," Diana
co-founded and co-chaired the
2011 California Women Suffrage
Centennial Committee, promoting
events statewide. She organizes
Women's History Month programs
to educate the community about
women's history and
achievements. An advocate and
activist, Diana serves on
nonprofit boards like the League
of Women Voters in her county. A
loving mother and grandmother,
she encourages her family to
"plant seeds" for future
generations.
