When our representatives are making important
decisions that impact all of our lives I believe it is important to ask
one basic question before making
those decisions, Is this good for
the children? Just imagine what our world would be
like if that question was asked prior to making decisions about going to
war, the environment, education or healthcare.

1. Commentary by Elaine B. Holtz:
I have a very special guest this
morning. Joining me in the
studio is Dr. Andrea
Hall=Miller, PhD, RN, MA, and
freelance writer. Andrea is also
the Director of Community
Engagement for the North Bay
Black Chamber of Commerce. We
will be talking about her
journey from nurse to author. I
know this is going to be a
lively and informative
interview.
Announcements – First of all I
want to thank everyone who
helped me celebrate my Birthday.
It made me feel so warm and
fuzzy when I saw all the Happy
Birthday’s on FB. A shout out to
Alicia Sanchez and everyone at
the station, after the show they
surprised me with cupcakes and
candles and flowers. Dinner with
my family. I was really touched
when receiving a special
handmade Birthday card from my
Great Granddaughter Satori and
you know how creative five years
olds are. I found out she loves
Giraffe’s and told me about my
animal for my B/D was the
Giraffe. So, I decided since I
have a guest who like me is into
metaphysics. I thought I would
look up the metaphysical meaning
of the Giraffe and this is what
I found. Wow, in African myths
and folklore, the giraffe is
believed to possess mystical and
magical powers. It is seen as a
messenger between humans and the
spirits, capable of accessing
realms beyond the reach of
ordinary creatures. The giraffe
is also associated with the
power of intuition and the
ability to see things from a
higher perspective. Thank you
all for sending me such loving
messages.
Shout out to the SOCO National
Organization for Women (NOW)

I have a special guest with some
great news, joining me on the
phone is Ana Diaz who is a
member of the Commission on the
Status of Women and Trustee on
the Board for the Roseland
School District in Santa Rosa.
----
2. Our
first Guest, Ana Diaz,
announces the honoring of the
farmworkers by the Sonoma County
Board of Supervisors (BOS), to
take place Tuesday, March 26,
2024 at 1:30 PM in their
Chamber. A gold resolution
naming this week Farmworkers
Awareness Week in Sonoma County
will be presented to the BOS. She mentioned that
while the Supervisors have a
holiday on Caesar Chavez's
birthday, the farmworkers are
working in the fields. They also
worked during the wildfires and
Covid lockdown. The Commission
on the Status of Women,
concerned about women working in
the fields, encouraged the BOS
to take this action.
Cesar
Chavez Day is a U.S. federal
commemorative holiday,
proclaimed by President
Barack Obama in 2014.[1] The
holiday celebrates the birth
and legacy of the civil
rights and labor movement
activist Cesar Chavez on
March 31 every year.
National Farmworker
Awareness Week (NFAW) is a
week of action for
communities and individuals
to bring attention to
farmworkers and honor them
for the contributions they
make to our daily lives.
-
report by Ken Norton,
Co-Producer, Women's Spaces
About our first Guest:
Born in Santa Rosa and
raised in the Roseland area, Ana
Diaz has resided in the
community for the entirety of
her life. Her familial ties to
the region date back to 1958
when her grandfather, Elias
Garcia, immigrated from Cotija,
Michoacan and toiled as a farm
worker for numerous years.
Ana presently holds the elected position
of a school board trustee for
the Roseland School District.
Prior to her current endeavors,
she served as an executive legal
assistant at an all-women law
firm. Her professional
repertoire includes a
certification in the Children in
the Justice System, and she is
currently pursuing degrees in
Sociology and Social and
Behavioral Sciences.
Additionally, Ana is fervently
dedicated to becoming a
certified herbalist and
advocating for farm workers. Ana
is a former commissioner on the
Sonoma County Commission on the
Status of Women.
3. Our
second Guest, Dr. Andrea
Hall-Miller, describes
how she became an author on
metaphysics upon retiring from
ICU nursing, or in her words:
“From Scrubs to Scripts: A
Nurse's Journey into
Metaphysical Writing!” Andrea’s
father was a pastor of a
Christian church in Santa Rosa.
However, the theology of hell
scared her, and she felt that
God being Love all the time and
everywhere left no time or place
for hell. Metaphysics helped her
to see that the notion of hell
is metaphorical and should not
dilute now as Life. Andrea
studied Heart Math, a teaching
that offers techniques of
breath, meditation, and
visualization to bring one’s
physical, mental, and emotional
systems into coherent alignment.
Doing so one experiences
increased access to the heart’s
intuitive guidance and
equanimity amid storms. She felt
metaphysics brings her closer to
Go than religion did. Andrea
knew a woman who had a past of
drug use who wanted to give her
newborn baby away to protect him
from a hell that she felt was
certainly her fate because of
her past. Andrea learned in
nursing how important it was to
love herself before she could
truly care for others. Her older
twin sisters used to write and
tell each other stories. Andrea
remembers that one of her
sisters would include an extra
“o” in her spelling of God,
since God is good. Sin means
missing the mark, and
forgiveness allows one to move
forward in the unity of God and
good.
Her sisters were early
influencers that inspired Andrea
to take up the pen and write her
first book Good Regardless,
a Metaphysical Love Story
and her second I Got You, A
Metaphysical Story Sequel.
About our Guest: Dr.
Andrea Hall-Miller, the
youngest of twelve children,
was born and raised in Santa
Rosa, CA., where her parents had
moved from San Francisco to
pastor a Church. Her earliest
memories include being in church
for many hours and following her
mother, also a nurse, who
inspired her to become a nurse.
In school, Andrea’s greatest
interests were in science,
sociology, health, and physical
education. Her continued studies
in all of them resulted in
degrees and licenses in nursing,
multicultural studies,
metaphysics, and physical
fitness.
Andrea’s most recent interests
lie in writing about her
favorite life experiences.
Therefore, in her works of
fiction, you’ll find elements of
all that she loves, including
nursing, spirituality, love, and
family. She recently retired
from her nursing career and is
looking forward to enjoying life
and adventure in her next phase.
Andrea is the proud author of
two books which we will be
talking about and serves as the
Community Engagement Coordinator
for the North Bay Black Chamber
of Commerce.
