When our representatives are making important
decisions that impact all of our lives I believe it is important to ask
one basic question before making
those decisions, Is this good for
the children? Just imagine what our world would be
like if that question was asked prior to making decisions about going to
war, the environment, education or healthcare.

1. Commentary by Elaine B. Holtz:
Joining me on the phone this
morning will be Janeen Murray of
Sonoma County GoLocal, reminding
us of the value of doing our
holiday shopping at locally
owned businesses to help keep
the money circulating in the
county rather than off to Wall
Street corporations.
Also joining me on the phone
this morning will be Dr. Harriet
Fraad. Dr. Fraad is a mental
health counselor and
hypnotherapist in practice in
New York City. She is a well
published author and writes
about the pressures on families
and the economics of the USA.
She is also a regular guest of
Dr. Richard Wolff and his show
Economic Update on Radio KBBF
89.1FM every Tuesday 11-12pm.
For this show we will be talking
about 2023, its challenges and
even offer a few solutions.
I want to wish my sister Evelyn
Diane Holtz; her birthday is on
Wednesday December 6th. Wow she
has been in my life for 79
years. Happy Birthday Sissy it
only gets better.
----
2. Our
Guest, Janeen Murray,
shares with us the value of
doing our holiday shopping at
locally owned businesses to help
keep the money circulating in
the county rather than off to
Wall Street corporations.
GoLocal is a membership
cooperative of locally-owned
businesses with a directory of
its members.
About our Guest:
Janeen Murray draws
professional experience from
both the business sector and the
educational arena. Starting out
as a junior high and high school
teacher in Sonoma County public
schools, she inspired a
commitment to learning and
sustainability in our youth. For
the next decade she managed
Operations and Marketing at two
Sonoma County locally owned
companies. Logging almost 10
years as GO LOCAL's Co-Manager
and Board Member, she now serves
as Executive Director. Also,
Manager of Sustaining
Technologies, she works both
organizations in tandem to
develop programs and marketing
consulting for locally owned
businesses. You may also come
across her wailing on her
accordion around the county with
The Hubbub Club street band.
3. Our
Guest,Dr.
Harriet Fraad, returns
to give us a political and
economic update. She shares how
her work focuses on the mutual
shaping of political, economic,
and personal life. She notes how
the US Empire is crumbling after
first enjoying economic
advantage after WWII to now half
the world not banking with the
US Dollar. The capitalist giant
is facing competition. The US is
the only western country without
health care for all. The
presidential choices are bleak
with the two leading candidates
both old. President Biden did
support union strike efforts and
has a good Secretary of Labor.
Unions are looking to unionize
150 million more workers. Even
Amazon workers have a union
operating internationally.
48,000 University of California
employees, including professors,
are unionized, and threatening
to strike. Flight attendants
have unionized. Shawn Fain of
the United Auto Workers is
looking to unionize those auto
workers who are not in the
union. Socialists have gained
power in Columbia, Chile, and
Brazil.
The Women’s right to choose
movement is strong with
victories in Wisconsin on
electing a state Superior Court
Chief Judge that tips the
balance to the left to support
Choice and free elections.
Referendums in the red states of
Ohio, Kansas, Kentucky, and
Virginia have turned back the
red tide. Even in Texas the
statute of limitations for
sexual abuse was expanded.
Dr. Fraad adds that on the peace
front, mobilizations are
happening across the country for
cease fire in Gaza, including
the Jewish Voices for Peace that
occupied Grand Central Station
in New York City, and then the
Statue of Liberty and the
Rockefeller tree lighting.
About our Guest:Dr. Harriet Fraad
is a Mental Health
Counselor and Hypnotherapist in
New York City. She is a longtime
political activist initiating
movements for better public
education, free public
childcare, and midwifery Rights
in Childbirth. She is a founding
mother of the Feminist Movement.
She has the Podcast Capitalism
Hits Home. Her regular radio
program, Interpersonal Update
appears on WBAI on Tuesday
nights at 6:30 EST. Her work
focuses on the mutual shaping of
political, economic, and
personal life. She is also a
regular guest of Dr. Richard
Wolff and his show Economic
Update on KBBF 89.1FM every
Tuesday 11-12pm.
