When our representatives are making important
decisions that impact all of our lives I believe it is important to ask
one basic question before making
those decisions, Is this good for
the children? Just imagine what our world would be
like if that question was asked prior to making decisions about going to
war, the environment, education or healthcare.

2. Our guestJasmine Palmer
takes us on her journey of
recovery from meth and it's drug
culture through a 6-month
sentence received for treatment
at Athena House
in Santa Rosa instead of prison.
She learned again to be
responsible as a parent and
holding a job and to rebuild
relationships. She owes much to
the mentoring of her counselor,
who was kind but spoke directly
on what she observed. The
therapy groups practiced
remembering gratitude and
positive affirmations to help
change the perspective for a
healing transition. After
the treatment there was the
keeping up the contacts with her
counselor and, eventually, she
herself became a counselor.
Today she is an advocate for
Athena House. Jasmine joined the
Board Directors of California
Human Development (CHD), the
non-profit agency that has had
Athena House under its umbrella.
She learned of CHD's intention
to drop its funding of Athena
House and started to reach out
for community support to save
it. A
Gofundme drive has begun and
on Saturday July 23, 2022, a
gala fundraiser
Keeping Hope Alive will be
held.
About our Guest: Jasmine Palmer
is an alumna of Athena House and
has stayed connected the past 10
years by volunteering, working
as a counselor, and being on the
board of directors.
For 20 years she been using meth
and living the lifestyle that
came along with it and on
November 9, 2011, she was
arrested and fortunately some of
her sentence was 6 months in
treatment at Athena House. This
is where she learned how to
live. We will be talking about
that. She passionately believe
in Athena House and what it
offers to women and is working
hard to keep it open.
She has worked in the field of
drug and alcohol over the past
10 years in different treatment
programs. For the past 3 years
she has worked in the medical
field doing care coordination
with vulnerable populations,
primarily homeless and formerly
incarcerated individuals.
Jasmine is a member of the Board
of Directors of California Human
Development (CHD). She is a proud
homeowner and has personally
helped build her with the
support of Habitat for Humanity.
She is a single mom of two
beautiful teenage girls, Emma,
and Maya.
