Before Deciding

When our representatives are making important decisions that impact all of our lives I believe it is important to ask one basic question before making
those decisions,
Is this good for
the children?

Just imagine what our world would be like if that question was asked prior to making decisions about going to war, the environment, education or healthcare.

Commentary by Host Elaine B. Holtz

on the 7 years of steady community effort to empower IOLERO with more effective oversight of the Sheriff's Office with the passage of Sonoma County Measure P.

This is followed by a song and then our

Discussions with Featured Guests:

1 Pat Sabo shares the insights she has gathered from this election held last week. The high turnout of 66% for the country and of 75% for Sonoma County was a good sign for democracy.  By Saturday morning AP and other major news media called the presidential race for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Kamala Harris broke the glass ceiling into the Vice-Presidency of the Whitehouse, and she wore white in her acceptance speech and gave credit to the shoulders she stood on.  Pat noted the winners of the races in the county and the number of new faces. District Elections were a first in Rohnert Park for electing its city council, as was the vote in the recently annexed Roseland area for the District 1 election of local businessman Eddy Alvarez.

About our Guest:   Pat Sabo is a resident of Sonoma County since 1973. She received her teaching credential from SSU in 1976 and taught mathematics in the Healdsburg Unified School District.. She served as President and Bargaining Chair for her local teacher’s union and was active at the regional and statewide level with CTA, working on major statewide campaigns and propositions. After her retirement she helped a former student run for the CA State Senate. after his election she worked part time as a district representative in his Santa Rosa office and she retired in 2019. She began working with the Democratic Central Committee in 2002 took a few years off after returning in 2014 she became the party chair in February 2019

2. Susan Lamont reads us a list of activist groups comprising many individuals in the community that she honors for contributed volunteer time and resources to clamor with a multiplicity of tactics for effective oversight of the Sheriff's Office in Sonoma County.  Susan also mentions the names of those we lost in this fight for justice.

About our Guest:  Susan Lamont is a longtime peace and social justice activist, who is currently affiliated with Sonoma County's Green Party, Police Brutality Coalition and Veterans for Peace. She is also a writer, poet and photographer. I have to say she is an amazing writer and photographer. Susan, I am happy to say, is a regular guest and was my first guest on the Women's Spaces Television Show in 2004.
