give us a hint of the festivities to happen this Sunday March 8th at
the Santa Rosa Rosie Rally 2020 on the Courthouse
Square from 11 AM to 2 PM. The free event also recognizes
International Women's Day. Leslie encourages us to bring the whole
family and your "We Can Do It" Spirit, dress up as Rosie the Riveter
or as any groundbreaking female in history who inspires you.
Special Guests include two sisters who were original Rosie the
Riveters during World War II, just 2 of the 19 million women who
worked the factories during that national crisis.
"We Can Do It!" by J. Howard Miller was
made as an inspirational image to boost worker morale
About our Guest: Leslie
Graves is the Coordinator of the Women's March in Santa Rosa and a member of the Sonoma County 2020 Women’s Suffrage Project
steering committee. This is a year-long project to celebrate the
centennial of the 19th amendment and create programs which explore
the complex long history and continuing fight for inclusion of all
women. They are a chapter of the California 2020 women’s suffrage
project which was created by the national women history alliance
which was founded in Sonoma County, in order to support all 58
County California in creating celebration and educational
opportunities for the public to engage in this historic moment.
2. Molly Murphy MacGregor shares
the history of the effort, beginning in Sonoma County, to proclaim
National Women's History Month.
About our Guest: Molly Murphy
MacGregor is a former high school social studies teacher
who has worked for over 35 years in the field of gender equity and
women’s history. MacGregor conducts women’s history workshops and
women’s historic sites tours throughout the country. She also works
with state and national agencies on strategies and programs to help
acknowledge and recognize the historic contributions of women. Her
work in the field of multicultural women’s history has been widely
recognized including awards from the National Education Association,
the US Department of Education, and the National Association for
Multicultural Education, and the Association for Gender Equity
Leadership in Education Leadership. Molly is accessible via email at

3. Jenny Chamberlain shares her
path as a Chicana from a 5th generation Texas family to become a
leader in our Sonoma County community, She mentions some of
the women mentors who inspired her. Jenny reads some passages from
her autobiographical story The Comfort Zone
published in the book Destiny Talks -The Women
Empowerment Edition.
About our Guest: Jenny Chamberlain has
made it her lifelong passion to serve her community and encourage
people to go beyond their expectations setting the path forward for
others to follow. She is the Chief of Staff to Sonoma County 4th
District Supervisor James Gore, Past President of the Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce Sonoma County and currently serves on the
Executive Board of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. She
also served as past Vice-President of Los Cien Latino Leaders and
former Human Rights Commissioner.
Jenny was honored to be nominated by Assemblymember Jim Wood for the
2017 California State Assembly “Woman Of The Year” Award
representing District 2. She has also received the 2018 New York
Life Community Service Award and a recipient of the 2019 North Bay
Business Journal’s Community Philanthropy Award. Jenny is one
of the authors featured in Destiny Talks - The Women Empowerment
Edition with her autobiographical story The Comfort Zone.

over 8000 women gathered to demand a constitutional amendment
guaranteeing the right to vote.
March 4, 1917 – Jeannette Rankin (R-MT) took her seat as the
first female member of of Congress.
March 4, 1933 – Frances Perkins becomes United States Secretary
of Labor, the first female member of the United States Cabinet.
